Collage Frames
Got a lot of pictures and don’t want to spend a lot of money on dozens of frames? Well, collage picture frames offer a great solution.
Collage frames are a great economical way to display multiple small pictures without having to buy an individual frame for each photo. Collage frames have multiple picture openings so you can display a variety of pictures in different sizes. This way you’ll always have a place to put your favorite pictures.
These days it’s easy to take a lot of pictures with digital cameras but many times, we never take the time to print our photos and enjoy them. With collage frames it's easy to share a lot of different pictures in a clean, organized display.
Collage frames come in a wide variety of styles, colors and different sizes and primarily come in two different types of collage frames- collage frames with mats and collage frames with multiple framed openings.
Matted Collage Frames
Collage frames with mats are generally less expensive because there is only one exterior frame. These matted frames generally have a variety of different small sized openings so you can accommodate more pictures. With the mats you can easily remove or add new pictures so it gives the flexibility to swap out pictures whenever you want.
With matted collage frames, you can either buy the mat and collage frame together or you can buy them separately. Most people buy the frame and mat as a set, but you also have the choice to select any sized frame (normally 8x10 or larger) and choose a multiple opening mat separately in a variety of colors or different sized openings.
The one thing that is unique with matted collage frames is that you’ll need to secure the pictures to the back of the mat. For securing the pictures to the mat you have several options depending upon the importance of your picture. For important pictures that you want to prevent damaging with tape, you should use photo corners or linen tape to secure your pictures. However, if your pictures are replaceable or you don’t mind tape being stuck to the back of your picture, you can use a tape with a matte finish like Scotch tape. If you’re using regular matte tape remember that it’s better to leave the tape on the back of the photo then to remove part of the paper finish.
This style of matted collage frame is popular because it has a scrapbook like style and can be easily personalized by having the mat filled with signatures or special messages.
True Collage Frames
The second type of collage frames are those with framed openings. These frames could either be a bunch of small frames permanently adhered together or could be one frame with wood or metal dividers separating each photo. This style of collage frame generally holds larger sized pictures and has fewer openings making it have the look of a traditional frame style.
With such a wide variety of sizes, colors and styles, collage frames are great versatile frames. Collage frames are usually designed to be hung on the wall, but many also include a built in easel back stand for displaying on a surface. Built in easel-back stands are often found with high quality collage frames in sizes smaller than 11x14.
Collage frames are terrific frames for displaying a selection of family pictures or a theme of different pictures like a wedding, anniversary party, kid’s sports pictures or a special vacation. Collage frames also make wonderful gifts for students going off to college, new parents displaying all of their favorite baby pictures, retirement parties and other big celebrations.
So no matter what your purpose or taste, you really can’t go wrong with collage frames.
