Tips for Taking Photos of Food
25 Mar 2010, written by RobSometimes I get really hungry sitting here behind the computer. And when that happens, there is only one thing to do. That’s right, start browsing for recipes for dinner! Hey, have you noticed how that food looks really delicious, sitting there all perfectly presented. How did they get that food to look the way it does?
Well, anyone can learn to take pictures of food, and there are many places on the internet where you can learn how:
Photographing food is a great article by Lara Ferroni with tips and tricks for taking great photos of food. In the article she teaches how to set-up and prep and make use of props. She also explains how to get the most out of your food photography by concentrating on angle, focus and lighting.
Wikipedia, as always, has a nice section on food photography and food stylists.
Is your tummy starting to rumble yet? I know mine is.
For a final lesson, the the “phood bloggers” over at Cookography have been photographing food for a while now and put together a small tutorial on what they do to light up their food. While you are there check out some of the delicious recipes.
Now go out there and take great pictures of food! (And then eat it)
